Enterprise software is entering its first paradigm shift since SaaS. The paper introduces Matrix, a framework for treating the operating model as an executable program, and argues the shift toward a living application layer is inevitable on two independent grounds: thinning organizations, and the verifiability requirement AI imposes on any system that operates a business.
